Parish Councils and Committees
There are many ways to get involved in your parish. Here are some of the councils and committees found in most parishes:
  • Pastoral Council – A planning and visioning body that works closely with the pastor or pastoral leader and staff to set parish priorities, coordinate parish activities, act as a think tank and advisory group for the parish.
  • Finance Council – This group works closely with the pastor or pastoral leader to manage the material goods of the parish, prepare and monitor the parish budget, help with fundraising, maintain parish facilities, and so on.
  • Worship Committee – If you’d like to help enhance the worship experience and opportunities in your parish – then this is the committee for you.
  • Social Concerns Committee – This committee helps the parish to care for the poor, hurting and needy through compassionate charitable service as well as legislative action.
  • Education Committee – If Catholic Education whether it be Catholic Schools, Faith Formation programs, Youth Ministry, or Adult Faith Formation might be of interest to you
  • Stewardship Committee – God has given each of us gifts for serving the Church and World. This committee helps parishioners to nurture a "Stewardship Way of Life" through Prayer, Service, and Sharing.
  • Buildings and Grounds Committee – If you have some extra time and like to fix things this is the committee for you.
  • Cemetery Committee – Many parishes have their own cemeteries. Volunteers help maintain them and oversee their management.
