Who’s Who at the Department of Education?

Dr. Joseph BoundJoseph A. Bound, Ph.D., Director of Education: Joe is responsible for administrative and promotional services for all aspects of Catholic education in the Diocese: adult faith formation, parish religious education, Catholic schools, youth ministry, Camp Tekawitha, and young adult ministry. He received his BA in Business Administration from Seattle University, his MBA from California State University, Stanislaus, and his Ph.D. from Purdue University. Along with supervising the Department of Education, Joe is also the main liaison between the Department of Education and the Diocesan Board of Education, and provides consultation to the field on educational planning issues. Joe is responsible for the development and implementation of the Diocesan strategic plans related to the three forms of Catholic education. 

Carrie-AimersCarrie Aimers, Coordinator of Young Adult Ministry: Carrie earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education from UW-Green Bay and Master of Theological Studies degree from St. Norbert College. She was the religious education coordinator at St. Agnes Parish, Green Bay, for the last four years. Carrie has been married for almost six years and has two boys. She resides in Chilton. Her hobbies include music, reading and writing. Carrie says she looks forward to "helping to engage others in ministry and coming to know the beauty of the Catholic Church more deeply. I am glad to be a part of such an amazing team."

Eric BlumreichEric Blumreich, Youth Ministry and Camp Tekawitha Director: Eric comes to the Department of Education from the Catholic Foundation where he worked to support youth ministry and Camp Tekawitha through financial development. Prior to that, Eric was the Director of Development at Notre Dame Academy. One of the greatest benefits of his position is that from June through August, Eric, his wife and two daughters reside onsite at Camp Tekawitha. This translates to three months without socks, ties or haircuts.

Julianne Donlon-StanzJulianne Donlon-Stanz, Adult Faith Formation Director: Julianne grew up in Hacketstown, Co. Carlow, Ireland, a small village set in the foothills of the Wicklow mountains. Since moving to the United States in 2001, Julianne has been a Director of Adult Faith Formation, Director of Religious Education and Youth Minister in addition to working in Catholic schools throughout the State. Julianne graduated with a degree in History, a degree in Religious Studies and a Master's in Theology and Education from Mater Dei College, Maynooth University and Dublin City University in Ireland.

John ReetzJohn Reetz, Assistant Superintendent of Catholic Schools: John is responsible for fostering Catholic identity in all 61 PreK-12 schools within the Diocese and for the spiritual development of principals, staff and students. He is a resource person to Catholic school system presidents, principals, teachers, pastors and parish directors to ensure the viability and effectiveness of each Catholic school. John has experience as a marketing teacher, assistant school and high school principal and most recently as administrator at All Saints Catholic School in Antigo. He has a master's degree in Education from Marian University in Fond du Lac and a bachelor's degree in Education from the University of Wisconsin-Stout.

Jane SchuellerJane Schueller, Curriculum and Instruction Director: Jane is responsible for fostering professional staff development opportunities for the staff in all 61 PreK-12 schools within the Diocese and for developing the diocesan standards-based curriculum. She serves as the point person for testing/student assessment programs and oversees the accreditation process for the Catholic schools in the Diocese, including serving as representative to the WRISA accreditation agency. Jane has experience as an elementary school teacher, St. Norbert College women's soccer coach, and most recently as principal of Resurrection Catholic School in Green Bay. She has a master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and a Bachelor of Arts Degree with an emphasis on elementary education from St. Norbert College. She is in the process of earning a Doctorate in Education from Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee.

Sr. Jacqueline SpaniolaSr. Jacqueline Spaniola, Director of Religious Education: Sr. Jacqueline is responsible for teaching the adults who teach religious education at home or the classroom. Catechesis -- echoing the living deposit of our Faith passed down to us from Jesus -- is her main focus. Sr. Jacqueline, a Franciscan Sister of Christian Charity for 39 years, is a native of Swartz Creek, Michigan, with a bachelor's degree in education from Silver Lake College and master's degrees in Christian spirituality from Creighton University and theology from St. Charles Borromeo Seminary. She has taught grades 5-8, worked in vocations and for the last 10 years has been a religious coordinator and director.

Debbie LinnaneDebbie Linnane, Administrative Assistant: Debbie’s main responsibilities include providing administrative assistant services to Dr. Bound, Director of Education, and assist in the workflow of secretarial services for the education team. Currently she also offers secretarial assistance in preparation of materials for the Diocesan Board of Education. 


Carol FountainCarol Fountain, Administrative Assistant (part-time), Education Department: Carol’s responsibilities at the Department of Education are varied; she assists all directors and support staff as needed and is responsible for publishing the Department of Education newsletter. Prior to this assignment, she worked on the Faith Alive Schools initiative within the Department.


Shelia SchautShelia Schaut, Administrative Assistant, Adult Faith Formation/ Bookkeeper: Shelia is currently the Administrative Assistant to Julianne Donlon, Adult Faith Formation Director. As department bookkeeper, she is responsible for coordinating payment of department expenses and maintaining accounts receivable. Along with this position Shelia gathers and records registrations from those who attend the numerous events, in-services, and workshops developed through the department.

Jackie VanKauwenbergJackie VanKauwenberg, Administrative Assistant, Schools: Jackie serves as the administrative assistant to Diane Walters, Curriculum and Instruction Director. She provides secretarial support for the development of programs such as leadership days, initial educator training, mentor and supportive consultant training. Other duties include keeping personnel files updated, along with school orders being placed and processed through Jackie. Jackie works with SEVIS, the Student and Exchange Visitor Program for our international exchange students in obtaining proper documents to study at our diocesan schools.
