Bishop Ricken, 50 leaders take part in Leadership Summit Feb. 18-20, issue report

Diocesan-visioning-process-white-logo_webFifty people, including Bishop David Ricken, will took part in the Leadership Summit Feb. 18-20 at Monte Alverno Retreat Center in Appleton.

They spent the weekend reviewing reports from parish focus groups and diocesan leaders summarizing gatherings held thoughout the Diocese last summer and fall. Participants were asked to describe the best examples of parish vitality as well as their hopes and dreams for the future of parishes.

Bishop Ricken will take the Leadership Summit proposals under advisement to write a diocesan pastoral plan.

What comes next

Mark Mogilka, diocesan director of Stewardship and Pastoral Services, who with his staff is overseeing the Diocesan Visioning Process, outlined what comes next in the process:
  1. Gather reports from the four groups or voices.

  2. Present the reports at the Feb. 18-20, 2011, Leadership Summit at Monte Alverno Retreat Center in Appleton where 50 people representing the four voices will gather with Bishop Ricken to dream and design proposals. Rick Krivanka, director of the Pastoral Planning Office in the Diocese of Cleveland, Ohio, and an expert on the Appreciative Inquiry method used in the visioning process, will lead the discussion based on the papers from each of the four voices.

  3. Bishop Ricken takes the proposals from the Leadership Summit under advisement to write a pastoral plan for the diocese.

  4. Bishop Ricken presents his pastoral plan, moving the Diocesan Visioning Process into an implementation process.
