Scouting (Boy, Girl, Venturing)

Welcome to the Catholic Diocese of Green Bay Catholic Committee on Scouting website.

Catholic-Boy-Scouting-logoCatholicGirlScoutLogoWe serve the Catholic Scouting community -- and those of all faiths -- in Northeastern Wisconsin. We do this by providing information, support, and training to help Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of all ages earn their Scouting Religious Emblems.

Scouting is an effective way to help Catholic youths do their duty to God and to their country. Scouting builds character and teaches devotion to God in an environment that provides wholesome fun under the guidance of strong adult role models. Scouting programs provide a wonderful channel to involve youth in the life of Catholic parishes.

What Scouting Does

Scouting helps young people:

  • grow into personal maturity and social responsibility
  • learn to assume their role in life with a high degree of commitment
  • care for those who are less fortunate
  • develop a strong desire to build a culture of goodwill, respect for the environment, and acceptance of duties.

Quality Diocese Recognition

Quality Diocese National Scouting Award 2015The Green Bay Catholic Committee on Scouting is proud to announce that we have earned the 2015 Quality Diocese recognition from the National Catholic Committee on Scouting. This award recognizes dioceses that promote and achieve a quality Catholic Scouting program by truly delivering exceptional programs to youth members at all levels of Boy Scouts of America programs. The award recognizes the Diocese's support of Scouting and Scout Religious Emblems. The Diocese of Green Bay has earned this recognition annually since 2003.

The Green Bay Catholic Committee on Scouting:

  • runs multiple adult training opportunities throughout the year
  • provides an annual retreat for religious emblems
  • sponsors an annual Bishop's Mass for Scouting to recognize all Scouts who have earned their Religious Emblems this year

Boy/Scout Sunday Patches | 2017 | Available Now!

Scout Sunday Patch 2017The Catholic Committee on Scouting for the Diocese of Green Bay has designed and adopted this patch shown to recognize scouts who attend Scout Sunday services. The Scout Sunday tradition was started to make people in houses of worship aware of Scouting, and to allow Scouts to live out their "Duty to God" pledged each week.

The patch is suitable for Boy and Girl Scouts and is available through the Diocesan Department of Education (order form below). Cost is $3.00 each.

A Scout must attend a Scout Sunday or Scout Sabbath Service in uniform with his/her unit or with other Girl Scouts and Scouters of his/her faith to earn a Scout Sunday patch. Patches are available to Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venturers, Explorers and Girl Scouts.
