Natural Family Planning

Education and information for you and your family

The Church teaches that married love is intended to bring forth new life. It also teaches that couples must prayerfully and generously discern if for serious reasons they may need to postpone becoming pregnant for a time or indefinitely. In such cases, and for various reasons, the Church teaches couples that it is morally acceptable to avoid pregnancy by opting not to use fertile days for their married love. This is a beautiful, layered understanding of God's design for married loved and our bodies as gifts to one another in marriage.

Helping couples to deepen conjugal love and achieve responsible parenthood is part of the Church's total pastoral ministry to Catholic spouses. Fulfillment of this ministry includes both education and pastoral care. This means "instilling conviction and offering practical help to those who wish to live out their parenthood in a truly responsible way" (Familiaris consortio, no.35).

Trained certified instructors teach a variety of natural family planning methods of learning to read and accurately interpret the body's fertility signs. Natural family planning can be used to achieve or avoid a pregnancy, and can also be used effectively regardless or cycle regularity, during any stage of a woman's reproductive life.
