During the "Year of Faith" I made a decision to stress to my 5th graders the importance of prayer and of developing a personal relationship with God our Father, Jesus, and the Blessed Mother.

I implemented this by making sure that we pray a full Rosary and the Chaplet of Divine Mercy at least once a week. The kids started out groaning at the thought and I heard some comments about the length of these prayers. However, soon I started to notice a difference.

Students Begin Offering Prayer Petitions

The students started raising their hands and asking if we could pray for certain things or people. This caught on and soon the entire class had a petition to include. Now, the kids remind ME that we need to pray our Rosary and/or Chaplet. It warms my heart to see how much they participate and how eager they are to share their personal faith.

I have truly been a witness to the Holy Spirit at work in the hearts of these young kids.
