Jan Fischer | Wealthy in a Spiritual Way

Jan-FischerMiddle School Teacher
Holy Rosary School, Kewaunee
Teacher for 11 years

After graduating from Catholic elementary and secondary schools and a Catholic university, I began my teaching career in a Chicago Catholic high school where I taught for twenty-seven years with the Felician Sisters.

In 2002 I relocated to northeastern Wisconsin where I was again blessed with a position at another Catholic school, Holy Rosary in Kewaunee.

Being able to spend each day sharing my faith with students and coworkers made going to work a joyful adventure on most mornings. However, even on those days that presented tough challenges, like the events of 9.11, working in a faith community gave me the opportunity to pray with others.

When the Felician Sisters began their Associate Program, I completed the year of discernment to become one. My current director, Sr. Bernadette, works at Felician Village in Manitowoc. Working in a Catholic environment for thirty-eight years has made me wealthy, not in a monetary way, but in a spiritual way.
