Catholic Campaign for Human Development

Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD):

  • helps low income people break the chains of poverty by supporting self-led economic development and community organizing initiatives
  • provides transformative education about poverty to those who are not poor.

The diocesan CCHD office is in alliance with the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops' Office of Catholic Campaign for Human Development.

The Office of Catholic Social Justice:

  • Solicits and reviews annual grant applications for economic development and community organizing projects
  • Promotes an annual second collection to support CCHD (Collection for the World's Poor on the 4th Sunday of Lent that includes CCHD, Catholic Relief Services, and Peter's Pence)
  • Engages in activities to help the non-poor understand poverty
