Women's Ministry

There are many options for women to be spiritually uplifted and renewed in the Diocese of Green Bay. There are events, retreats, social opportunities and seminars happening regularly at parishes throughout the Diocese. Below please find information related to women's ministry that you might find helpful.

The Diocesan Council of Catholic Women

The Green Bay Diocesan Council of Catholic Women (DCCW) was founded in 1924 at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral at the invitation of Bishop Paul Rhode, sixth bishop of Green Bay.

Its purpose is to support, empower, and educate all Catholic women in spirituality, leadership, and service, consistent with the teachings and tradition of the Catholic Church.

The women do service projects in the areas of church, family, international, community, legislation, and organization.

There are Councils Catholic Women at the parish, vicariate, diocesan, and national levels. The National Council of Catholic Women provides information on projects and activities that can be adapted for their parish and locality.

These include collecting and donating sweatshirts, toothbrushes, and toothpaste to Rainbow House and Golden House; the Respite Program where trained volunteers give family members a break from being caregivers 24/7; and Water for Life to provide clear water systems in impoverished areas.

Girlfriends in God

Girlfriends in God brings together women of all ages from across the Diocese of Green Bay and pampers them physically and spiritually, encouraging them to share their own faith journeys and listen to the experience and wisdom gained from other women's experiences of faith. The Girlfriends in God events combine faith, good food and laughter, giving busy women the opportunity to find their common ground as Girlfriends in God. Events usually take the format of a half day or evening of reflection, leaving women motivated and re-energized to continue deepening their faith journey with Christ and with their local parish community.
