Longest-Running Lenten Program Celebrates 40th, Aids Local, Global Community

Known for its characteristic "rice bowl," millions of Catholics have used this initiative to respond to the struggles of people around the world who cannot meet their basic needs. Through 40 years of Lenten prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, millions of Catholics have contributed $250 million to change lives in impoverished and vulnerable communities.

Bishop Ricken will Lead Pilgrimage to World Meeting of Families, See Pope Francis

(Feb. 12, 2015) -- Bishop David Ricken will lead a six-day pilgrimage sponsored by The Compass, official newspaper for the Catholic Diocese of Green Bay, in cooperation with the diocesan Office of Family & Married Life. The pilgrimage to Philadelphia is centered around the eighth World Meeting of Families, which is the world's largest Catholic gathering of families. The theme is "Love Is Our Mission: The Family Fully Alive," highlighting how the love and life of families enrich society.
