team-days-graphic"The Sacrament of Living" will be the theme for the 2015 TEAM Day of Study and Reflection for parish staff and volunteers.

This year's TEAM Day will focus on the Prayer and Spirituality area from Bishop Ricken's pastoral reflection, "Teach My People to Pray."

timone-davistimone davis, D.Min., is a cradle Catholic who was a "pewster" until she discovered that the uselessness of the Church was because she wasn't giving anything of herself. After committing to do something, her life changed. Her first ministry was with the RCIA, where she not only welcomed others into the Church, but also revitalized her own spirituality.

timone and her husband Orlando launched PEACE centered WHOLENESS after she worked in Young Adult Ministry for the Archdiocese of Chicago.

She is the formation director for the Augustus Tolton Pastoral Ministry Program at Catholic Theological Union and Associate Director for the Continuing Education and Enrichment Programs for the Institute for Black Catholic Studies at Xavier University of Louisiana.

"The Sacrament of Living" will cover these topics:

  • Holy, Holy, Holy ... Me
  • Creating and Using the Desert for Purpose
  • The LORD's Prayer Revisited

Church leaders react to hostage incident in Marinette

Catholic Charities and Holy Family Parish in Marinette have stepped forward to assist Catholics and members of the larger community after 15-year-old Samuel Hengel, a Marinette High School sophomore, held his social studies class and teacher hostage for nearly seven hours Nov. 29. Hengel died the next day of self-inflicted gunshot wounds.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (Nov. 23, 2010) -- Bishop David Ricken will celebrate a Vigil for Life and First Vespers of Advent at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, Green Bay, at 6 p.m. Saturday, November 27.

The event will be part of a worldwide celebration called for by Pope Benedict XVI, who will celebrate the vigil on November 27 in St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. Pope Benedict has asked bishops, and all believers to hold solemn vigils for all nascent -- newly developing -- human life in their parishes, religious communities, associations and movements.

Lenten TV ads lead to 7.4 percent increase in Mass attendance in the Diocese

cch_logoGREEN BAY, Wis. (Oct. 21, 2010) -- Increases in Mass attendance and the willingness of Catholics to talk about matters of faith were among positive outcomes from a series of TV ads the Diocese of Green Bay aired for six weeks last February and March.

Parish leaders also reported a more welcoming environment, the launch of Web sites, and a desire to continue what was started, including another media campaign.

Xavier honored

Appleton school named to national Top 50 Catholic High Schools list

APPLETON, Wis. (Oct. 15, 2010) -- Xavier High School in Appleton for the third time has been selected as one of the top 50 Catholic high schools in the United States, announced Dr. Joseph Bound, Director of Education for the Catholic Diocese of Green Bay.

Xavier and Catholic Memorial High School in Waukesha were the only two schools in Wisconsin to be recognized by the 2010 Catholic High School Honor Roll, which was released today by he Acton Institute, an international research and educational organization.
