Diocesan Gathering of Families to Complement World Meeting of Families

Diocese-Green-Bay-LogoGREEN BAY, Wis. (July 30, 2015) -- The Catholic Diocese of Green Bay will host a Diocesan Gathering of Families at Camp Tekakwitha on Saturday, August 29, 2015. This is a local celebration of families and joins with the spirit of the World Meeting of Families that will take place in Philadelphia in September. The event is sponsored by the diocesan Office of Family and Married Life, Office of Dignity of Human Life, and Camp Tekakwitha. The theme is Love Is Our Mission: Be Mercy & Light.

"This gathering will encourage and support families. I hope that families will feel connected to those who will make the pilgrimage to Philadelphia for the World Meeting of Families with the talks and activities that are planned. It is a special day to affirm and celebrate family life. Camp Tekakwitha is a beautiful setting for families to enjoy nature, get out on the water, and have fun together. The time to network, to play and to pray with other families is a treasure," said Peg VandeHey, Family and Married Life Coordinator for the Diocese of Green Bay.

Bishop Ricken Will Share Insights

The Diocesan Gathering of Families is excited to feature a talk by Bishop David Ricken, who will share his insights on family life and prayer. Additionally, the day will include water sports, camp activities for all ages, inspiring speakers, arts and crafts, a bilingual Mass, and a taco dinner.
