Bishop Ricken to Celebrate Blue Mass for Public Safety Personnel on Sept. 18

Diocese-Green-Bay-LogoGREEN BAY, Wis. (September 13, 2016) -- The annual Blue Mass for the Diocese of Green Bay will be celebrated on Sunday, September 18, 2016, at 3 p.m. at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral in Green Bay. The celebrant will be Bishop David L. Ricken.

A Blue Mass is a Thanksgiving Mass in gratitude for the generous service of public safety personnel who serve their community each day. All emergency, law enforcement and protective services personnel are invited and encouraged to attend, including retired members. All members of the public who would like to support and pray for public safety personnel, Catholic and non-Catholic, are invited to this Mass to join in prayer.

Bishop Ricken to Bless Personnel, Badges, Work Items

Bishop Ricken will also extend a special blessing for all public safety personnel present, as well as their badges or other items used in their daily work.

"As we join together this weekend, let us do so with love and gratitude for the courage and devotion of these dedicated public servants. We do not hear about the small, repetitive services completed daily on our behalf. These are services we have come to expect, but make no mistake, we must never take them for granted," said Bishop David Ricken. "Let us offer a most profound prayer of thanksgiving for the men and women who protect and serve. It is because of their courage and faithful devotion to service that we are truly safe and secure."

Do not miss this opportunity to join in prayer and to support the brave men and women working in public safety each day.
