St. Francis Xavier Cathedral to Close for Renovations September through November

Diocese of Green Bay LogoGREEN BAY, Wis. (Aug. 22, 2017) -- St. Francis Xavier Cathedral in Green Bay, Wisconsin, will be closed September 2017 through November 2017 for renovations. The last Mass will be Sunday, September 3rd at 9:00 a.m., and doors will close immediately after Mass. The first Mass after renovations is scheduled for Saturday, December 2nd at 4:00 p.m. Bishop Ricken will celebrate Mass on Sunday, December 3rd at 9:00 a.m. for the reopening blessing.

PLEASE NOTE: During the renovations, Mass will be held at St. John the Evangelist Parish in Green Bay (413 St. John Street, Green Bay, WI 54301). The Cathedral's Mass times will be carried over to St. John's -- 4:00 p.m. Saturday evening and 9:00 a.m. Sunday morning. St. John's Mass times will remain the same -- 5:30 p.m. Saturday evening and 10:45 a.m. Sunday morning. Daily Mass will be held Monday through Friday at 8:30 a.m. at St. John's, and the Sacrament of Reconciliation will be available Saturdays from 2:15 p.m.-3:30 p.m. and Wednesdays 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will be held Wednesdays 9:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. at St. John's.

The upcoming renovations will include restoring the oil paintings, replacing the flooring, refurbishing the pews, cleaning and rebuilding the main pipe organ, and completing additional maintenance.
