Priest reassigned

Fr. Guy Blair called by his order to serve in South Dakota

Bishop David Ricken received a letter the week of June 21 from the Provincial Superior of the Priests of the Sacred Heart indicating that Fr. Guy Blair is being called by his order to serve as pastor of St. James Parish in Chamberlain, South Dakota.

Priests of the Sacred Heart have served this mission parish since 1923 and the Province wants to ensure its continuous service to the parish, the letter from the provincial superior said.

As a result, Fr. Blair will leave the Diocese of Green Bay when he finishes his assignment at St. John the Evangelist Parish on September 14, 2010.

As previously announced, Fr. John Girotti will become pastor of St. John the Evangelist on September 15, 2010, while continuing as pastor of St. Francis Xavier Cathedral Parish.

The Priest Personnel Board is meeting this week to discuss a successor to Fr. James Lucas, current pastor of St. Paul Parish, Combined Locks, when he leaves for a new assignment on September 15, 2010.
