World Apostolate of Fatima will host event at The Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help™

Shrine-MaryThe World Apostolate of Fatima will host "Fatima Family Day" on Sunday, June 13, at The Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help™. Events, which will include an outdoor Mass, will begin at 8 a.m. and end at 3 p.m.

“There is a lot of information about the apparitions and messages of Fatima and a lot of hype about the three shepherd children, which is all well and good, but that’s just the beginning of what Our Lady asks of all of us,” said Fr. Anthony Cirignani, OFM, Chaplain to the Diocese of Green Bay Division of the World Apostolate of Fatima.

“The 13th Day celebrations are something new for this year that Fr. Anthony wanted to start to draw attention to the messages of Fatima,” said Karen Tipps, Shrine volunteer.

Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets or chairs for the Mass, and a bag lunch. Coffee and juice will be provided. The event is free; however, donations to The World Apostolate of Fatima will be accepted.

More about Fatima

The Blessed Virgin Mary reportedly appeared to three shepherd children at Fátima in Portugal on May 13, 1917. The apparitions continued on the 13th day of each month for six consecutive months. One of the shepherd children was Lucia Santos, who later became a nun.

Lúcia said the lady had asked them to pray the rosary every day, repeating many times that the rosary was the key to personal and world peace.

The children said Mary revealed three secrets to them. The first two secrets refer to a vision of hell, devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, the Second World War, and finally the prediction of the immense damage that Russia would do to humanity by abandoning the Christian faith and embracing Communist totalitarianism. The Virgin Mary promised that the Consecration of Russia would lead to Russia's conversion and an era of peace. The third secret, which was not publicly revealed until June 26, 2000, was a vision of the death of a pope and other religious figures.

After a 1930 canonical inquiry, the Bishop of Leiria-Fátima officially declared the visions of Fatima "worthy of belief."
