Retreat Centers

Northeastern Wisconsin is home to eight Catholic retreat centers and one shrine.

The Diocese of Green Bay owns and operates:

  Holy Name Retreat House on Chambers Island (Door County)

  St. Joseph Formation Center in Baileys Harbor (Door County)

  Holy Name Retreat House St. Joseph Formation Center (formerly St. Joseph Retreat Center)

  Camp Tekawitha Retreat and Conference Center (near Shawano)

  Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help™ in Champion (Northeast Brown County).

The other Catholic retreat centers in Northeastern Wisconsin are owned and operated by religious orders or private, non-profit boards.

Holy Name Retreat House

Holy Name Retreat House is situated on an island in the Bay of Green Bay. A silent retreat there includes Mass, group prayer, personal counseling, private reading, and spiritual presentations in a beautiful natural setting. The summer-only schedule offers weekend retreats for men, women, and mixed groups. There also are one-day and five-day retreats.

Camp Tekawitha Retreat and Conference Center

In addition to its summer camp sessions from late June through early August, Camp Tekawitha Retreat and Conference Center welcomes confirmation classes and other retreats and meetings to its setting on Loon Lake in the Wisconsin north woods. The center also is available for rent in the spring and fall.

St. Joseph Formation Center

St. Joseph Formation Center (formerly St. Joseph Retreat Center), adjacent to Kangaroo Lake in Door County, is operated by Catholic Youth Expeditions. It's a place where young adults can live in community, grow in their faith, and discern their call to service as a priest, a religious sister or brother, or through marriage or the single life. Youth participate in summer CYE retreat expeditions at the center.

Bridge-Between Retreat Center

The Bridge-Between Retreat Center on a farm in rural Brown County offers a contemplative place to deepen relationships with God, self, neighbor, and creation. Guests of all faiths are welcome to pray, share simple meals, study, enjoy recreation and a holistic lifestyle.

Jesuit Retreat House

The Jesuit Retreat House, amid rolling lawns and tree-lined paths on the shores of Lake Winnebago in Oshkosh, invites retreatants to discover and deepen their relationship to God, Jesus, and the Spirit, and to rediscover themselves through prayer, silence, reflection, and rest in the tradition of St. Ignatius Loyola.

Monte Alverno Retreat Center

Monte Alverno Retreat Center, along the Fox River in Appleton, offers holy space, solitude, Franciscan simplicity and hospitality, and a sacred place to find God in quiet and solitude away from the demands and busyness of life.

Mount Tabor Center

Mount Tabor Center in Menasha is dedicated to creating rich spiritual experiences for youth and adults of all faiths to encounter Jesus and respond in faith and love. Groups are welcome for spiritual retreats or programs. Mount Tabor Center is the only staffed youth retreat center in the Diocese of Green Bay.

Norbertine Center for Spirituality and Retreat House

The Norbertine Center for Spirituality and its Retreat House welcomes persons of all faiths to their 150-acre campus at St. Norbert Abbey in De Pere to become more in touch with God, themselves and others. Offerings include retreats, days and evenings of reflection, spiritual direction, and days of renewal.
