Advent is one of the most significant seasons in the Church year, although it is largely overshadowed by all our Christmas preparations and end of the year activities.
"Advent" comes from the Latin word "Adventus," meaning "coming" and it applies to both the anniversary of Jesus' birth on Christmas and the second coming of Christ at the end of time. It is a time to recognize and reflect on:
- our own incompleteness
- our longing for lasting fulfillment
- our belief that this fulfillment does and will continue to come through Jesus Christ
