Continuing a "Culture of Vocation" in the Diocese of Green Bay

Schuster_BW_outsideOn August 1, 2010, Fr. Daniel Schuster became the new vocation director for the Diocese of Green Bay.

Fr. Schuster will travel to parishes throughout the diocese where he will preach, invite and motivate the many people who have a calling from God. You will often hear him say, "Your vocation is your vehicle for salvation!"

He also will work with the seminarians who are studying in formation, and those who live at the Xavier House in De Pere, WI. The Xavier House of Discernment has openings for young men in college, men working or serving as volunteers, and men who work in proffessional settings who desire to live in community while discerning the possibility of the priesthood.

Fr. Schuster will also maintain connections with the Serra Clubs, Knights of Columbus, the Catholic Schools, parish RE programs, and CYE in his role in encouraging and supporting vocations in the Church.

Fr. Schuster previously served as an associate pastor at St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Manitowoc since his ordination to the priesthood in 2008.

As Vocation Director, I, Fr. Schuster also work with the associate Vocation Director, Fr. Quinn Mann, and we would love to talk to you if you feel that you are experiencing a call to the priesthood. Please contact us if you would like us to visit to your school, church, or organization. We love to talk about our relationship with Christ and the Church, and we love to talk about the gift of the priesthood.

Making a Sincere Gift of Self

fr-quinn-mann20090918"Man most fully discovers himself only through a sincere gift of himself" (Gaudium et Spes). As a Catholic priest, I have come to know this in a very real way.

Priesthood has afforded me many opportunities to make a gift of myself. It has been through this sincere gift that my life has become animated in such a way that I am compelled to share the Gospel message.

Being a priest has given me a glimpse of the human capacity to love and the victory over sin over death.

The most edifying gift of priesthood has been the celebration of the holy sacrifice of the Mass. The Holy Eucharist is the greatest gift given to the world and as a priest, you are called by God to bring Jesus Christ to the world through simple gifts of bread and wine, gifts that become the body and blood of Christ.

I challenge you to discover yourself by making a gift of yourself. Men are called by God to lay down their lives as Christ layed down His life. Priesthood is a great gift to the world and I encourage you to discover it for yourself!

I look forward to hearing from you!
