Parents play the greatest formative role in their children's life. At the baptism of our children, we commit to sharing our faith with them, and Christ and the church help support us in that role.
Parents also play an important role in our children's vocation: first to follow Christ, and then to pray about God's specific call to married life, single life, consecrated religious life, or ordained life. We tend to be good at helping our children prepare for a job or occupation, but less good at preparing them for their life's vocation, the most important commitment they will make in their lives.
