The Faith Alive project was approved in January 2007 to benefit the parishes and schools in the Greater Green Bay area. The purpose of Faith Alive is to identify common ministries and deliver them more effectively through collaboration.
Faith Alive involves two initiatives, one for area parishes, and the other for the area's Catholic elementary schools.
The first initiative calls on the 23 area parishes to work together in the areas of Adult Faith Formation, Evangelization, Pastoral Care, Peace and Justice, Prayer and Worship, Religious Education for Children, Schools, Stewardship, and Youth and Young Adult Ministry. Prior to Faith Alive, some neighboring parishes were already working together and experiencing success. Knowing this, four parish "clusters" have been developed (list below). It is through the clusters that parishes are already seeing the possibilities by collaborating in the spiritual care of Catholics in care facilities.
The second initiative addresses the needs of the 10 Catholic elementary schools in the Greater Green Bay Area. Former Bishop David Zubik approved the creation of a Catholic school system that will serve the approximate 2,600 area students. The system, named GRACE -- Green Bay Area Catholic Education -- will be fully operational by the 2012-2013 school year. By coming together, the schools leverage their resources in the areas of curriculum, accreditation, policies, technology, finances, planning, marketing and development.
