About the Office of Youth Ministry

Bishop David Ricken @BpDavidRicken

bishopBishop David Ricken has been the chief pastor of our diocese since 2008, being the twelfth bishop of the diocese.

On June 12, 2011, our Bishop gave our Diocese a Pastoral Letter entitled "Parishes: Called to be Holy, Fully Engaged, Fully Alive." Highlighted in this letter, youth are called to "belong to a family unit" rather than "a category in and of themselves." The office of youth ministry aims to form entire families in holiness. In accordance with the Pastoral Letter, we desire to disciple young people, engage youth and their families in faith formation, intentionally invite and engage youth on the parish level, and instill in the youth a desire to live and pass on the faith to the world in which they live. Maria SchuettePraise the Lord...Now and Forever! Originally hailing from Green Bay, I am humbled to be working for this diocese and under Bishop Ricken. Previously, I was a high school theology teacher, youth minister, catechist, and yet have always remained an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers (a natural assumption after years of practicing the Lambeau leap on my family couches!) and of course a lover of Jesus Christ. My favorite saints include St. Therese of Lisieux, St. John Bosco, Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati, Blessed Chiara Badano, and St. John Paul II. After encountering Christ in a variety of retreats, the Eucharist, service, holy priests and witnesses, my family, and in the daily Mass, I have been profoundly impacted to live my life radically for Christ and His Church. The resounding motto in our office - "keep it simple, holy, and natural."

We are also available for presentations, retreats, witness talks, youth ministry core team formation, youth minister formation, catechesis nights, apologetics talks, theology of the body presentations, and many more. We are here to help assist parishes and schools, so feel free to contact our office. "Look to HIM that you might be radiant with JOY!" - Psalm 34

Join us for our Weekly Power Hour!

Unite in prayer and sacrifice between the hours of 2-3pm on Tuesdays with all those who minister and walk with youth throughout the Diocese of Green Bay. The world is a challenging and tempting place for so many of our youth. A holy hour with the Lord greatly outweighs any worldly goods, so are you willing to join us in praying for the intentions of our youth and for all those who walk with them in our homes, parishes, and schools? Pray in a Church or in a Eucharistic Adoration chapel. If you are unable to be in front of our Lord physically, can you join us from your homes, work places, schools, and communities? Prayer changes everything...EXPECT GREAT THINGS!
