Considering recent events occurring at our nation's border, many in our diocese are wondering how they may help. Here are some suggestions:
- Pray – Pray for all migrants, especially those who are forced to leave their homes due to violence, persecution, and economic strife. Pray also for those tasked with enforcing immigration laws that they would carry out their responsibilities with respect for all people.
- Contact Legislators – Reach out to your legislators and encourage them to work towards comprehensive immigration reform built on the fundamental truth that every person is made in the image of God and deserves to be treated with respect and dignity.
Contact your legislator - Donate – Support the work of organizations that offer humanitarian aid to migrants. In particular, if you donate to Catholic Charities USA, they will direct your donation to the Catholic Charities agencies working along the border.
Donate here - Stay Informed – While the media coverage of these issues will likely die down as some other issue captures our attention, these issues will not go away. Stay informed on what is happening by following Justice for Immigrants website or on Facebook page.
