Diocese of Green Bay Religious Education-Youth Ministry

Youth Ministry | Scouting (Boy, Girl, Venturing)

Welcome to the Catholic Diocese of Green Bay Catholic Committee on Scouting website.

Catholic-Boy-Scouting-logoCatholicGirlScoutLogoWe serve the Catholic Scouting community -- and those of all faiths -- in Northeastern Wisconsin. We do this by providing information, support, and training to help Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of all ages earn their Scouting Religious Emblems.

Scouting is an effective way to help Catholic youths do their duty to God and to their country. Scouting builds character and teaches devotion to God in an environment that provides wholesome fun under the guidance of strong adult role models. Scouting programs provide a wonderful channel to involve youth in the life of Catholic parishes.

What Scouting Does

Scouting helps young people:

  • grow into personal maturity and social responsibility
  • learn to assume their role in life with a high degree of commitment
  • care for those who are less fortunate
  • develop a strong desire to build a culture of goodwill, respect for the environment, and acceptance of duties.

Boy/Scout Sunday Patches | February 4, 2018 | Available Now!

Scout Sunday Patch 2018The Catholic Committee on Scouting for the Diocese of Green Bay has designed and adopted this patch shown to recognize scouts who attend Scout Sunday services. Scout Sunday was started to make people in houses of worship aware of Scouting, and to allow Scouts to live out their "Duty to God," which they pledge each week.

The patch is suitable for Boy and Girl Scouts and is available through the Diocesan Department of Education (order form below). Patches are available online through the Scout Shop website or your local Council shop. Cost online is $2.49 each, plus shipping, handling, and taxes.

A Scout must attend a Scout Sunday or Scout Sabbath Service in uniform with his/her unit or with other Girl Scouts and Scouters of his/her faith to earn a Scout Sunday patch. Patches are available to Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venturers, Explorers and Girl Scouts.

Diocese Announces New Our Lady of Good Help Activity Patch for Youth and Adults

Our Lady Good Help Activity PatchThe Catholic Committee on Scouting for the Diocese of Green Bay has announced the Our Lady of Good Help Activity Patch. The patch is open to any youth or adult, even those who are not in Scouting. The requirements and activities for the patch focus on Mary's apparition in Wisconsin, including how and why the Church has honored Mary for more than 2,000 years.

Requirements to earn the patch are grade-specific. Any knowledgeable parent, Scout leader, group leader, priest, religious or catechist who meets the standard Scouting and Diocesan safe environment requirements may oversee this activity.

This is not a religious emblem and Scouts will not receive a religious knot for earning this activity patch. The National Catholic Committee on Scouting (www.nccs-bsa.org) and the National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry (www.nfcym.org) also offer Marian activity patches. Cost of the patch is $4.00.
