Annual celebration of agriculture will include Mass, meal, seed blessing, speaker

Rural-Life-DayGREEN BAY, Wis. (March 16, 2011) -- The rural community in Northeastern Wisconsin will celebrate its two annual Rural Life Day events March 24 and March 31, beginning with Mass at 10:30 a.m. both days, followed by dinner at 11:45 a.m.

Auxiliary Bishop Robert Morneau will preside on March 24 at the Mass at St. Clare Parish in Wrightstown.

Bishop David Ricken will preside on March 31 at the Mass at St. Francis Solanus Church in Gresham.

Blessings, prayers, meal, speaker

The bishops will bless seeds and farm equipment and offer special prayers for a fruitful growing season.

Mike Austin, agriculture reporter on WTAQ radio in Green Bay and WFRV-TV in Green Bay will speak after the meal. Austin, who has been reporting farm news for 33 years, also co-hosts Mornings with Mike and Matt on WTAQ.


Tickets for the Rural Life Days dinner are $7.50 and must be purchased in advance. Dinner tickets will not be sold at the door. No tickets are needed to attend either Mass.
