Rest, Renew, Restore Combatting Burnout and Striving for Spiritual Wellness
Wednesday, July 28 | 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM | CAPACITY REACHED Diocese of Green Bay 1825 Riverside Drive Green Bay, WI 54301
Need some time to rest in the Lord? To renew your sense of mission? To restore balance in your life? If so, you are invited to a day of refreshment and retreat through the healing presence of the Holy Spirit. This day will provide a space to acknowledge your feelings of ministering during the pandemic and where to go from here. There will be time for Mass, Confession, music, self-guided activities, a healthy lunch, and conversations about mental, physical, and spiritual wellness.
In today’s world, there are constant threats to our peace – whether from people in our lives, bickering on social media, or issues in our local, national, and global communities. Unfortunately, working in Church ministry does not make us immune to these threats. By finding our identity as daughters and sons of God, we can allow God to transform these threats and rest in the peace that the world cannot give. Spend some time reflecting on what the Scriptures can teach us about peace and resting in the peace of the Father’s embrace.
Filling Your Cup (with Tara Degrave and Larissa Martinez)
Now more than ever we are often asked to do more with less. As servants of the Church, our tendency can be to say ‘yes’ at the expense of our own self-care and work-life balance. This workshop will discuss burnout and strategies to prevent it from a staff perspective, as well as leadership lens.
Strategies for Healthy Living (with Debbie Guenterberg)
What is your inner voice telling you? Are you trying to be perfect with eating, exercising, or both? Balance, mindfulness, and mindset are key to living a healthy life. This session will help you figure out your personal balance.
Be Still and Know: Self-Guided Activities (with Jane Schueller, Arvilla Rusnak, & Heidi Rosenthal)
Refresh with some quiet time to journal, color with Scripture, walk outdoors, or just rest in the presence of the Lord.
Pietra Fitness (with Lori Keisic)
Pietra Fitness is a stretching and strengthening class combined with Christian meditation and prayer, practiced in the Catholic tradition. Please bring your own fitness mat and any props that you may need or have used in other classes in the past. This class is suitable and adaptable for most abilities. Come join us for this total mind-body-soul experience!
Boundaries: What’s Healthy and Unhealthy? (with Celia Gardner)
Boundaries: What are they? This discussion will help to identify healthy vs unhealthy boundaries. We will discuss how to establish and maintain healthy boundaries in the workplace.
Coping Skills for Dealing with Times of Transition and Stress (with Karmen Lemke)
After working 30 years in corporate America, Karmen took a leap of faith and moved to nonprofit leadership. Thinking she knew everything about nonprofits, she made the transition and her eyes were open widely. Hear more about her experience and how she manages to work to live, not live to work, all while putting faith first.
Psychological and Spiritual Effects of Burnout with Thomas Pfister
Ministering throughout the recent pandemic has led many to experience burnout in both their professional and personal lives. One of the most prominent effects of burnout is negativity, which can extend to one’s career, family, relationships, faith, and perspective of the world. Join for a Thomistic perspective of the psychological and spiritual effects of being negative, as well as techniques to overcome these effects and increase one’s spiritual and psychological wellness.
There is no cost to attend due to the generosity of the Bishop’s Appeal. This retreat day is brought to you by Parish Life & Evangelization, Families & Schools of Discipleship, and Catholic Charities & Living Justice.
To respect the more personal nature of the day, registration will be capped at 35 participants. This event will continue to be offered throughout the year.
