Chrism Mass 2024

The Chrism Mass will be held on March 26th, 4:00pm at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, 140 S. Monroe St, Green Bay.  The Mass will be celebrated by Bishop Ricken with the priests and pastoral leaders of the diocese and, by invitation, with various parishes, groups and organizations representative of the Diocese for the blessing and distribution of Holy Oils and the annual renewal of vows for the priests.  Invtitations will be requested at the door.

 Holy Oils

Beginning this year, all parishes will receive one set of Holy Oils in the large bottles (8 oz). This will eliminate the need for parishes to worry about ordering their oils every year. A set of oils will be prepared and ready to pick up by your priest or pastoral leader after the Chrism Mass. If your parish requires oils beyond the large set, please contact the Worship Office at 920-272-8310 and we will have them prepared for you in addition to your large set.

Please DO NOT get rid of your oils from last year until you have received your newly blessed oils for the current year.  See the link below for the USCCB rite instructions for the reception and care of the Holy Oils in your parish. If in an emergency you should run out of the Oil of the Sick, olive oil can be blessed by a priest. Instructions can be found at Blessing the Oil of the Sick in Emergent Circumstances or by contacting the Office of Divine Worship.
