Why Discipleship Small Groups?

The short answer is because that’s what Jesus did! Jesus had many followers, but he took twelve and formed a small group that changed the world.

We know that small groups are not necessarily a new phenomenon. However, because the world is changing, we need to change our approach and understanding of using small groups to become more intentional about forming and growing disciples in our parishes, homes, and communities.

What makes Discipleship Small Groups different from bible studies or other small groups?

Two words: vision and training.

When Discipleship Small Group leaders are equipped and empowered to help others grow in discipleship, something called spiritual multiplication begins to happen. Discipleship Small Groups provide a natural on-ramp in parishes for all three of the areas that Pope Francis identified as needing to know and hear the Good News of Jesus Christ’:
