GREEN BAY, Wis. (Sept. 28, 2021) – While Catholic Schools across the country have experienced a decline in enrollment due to the pandemic, the Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Green Bay have experienced one of the largest increases in enrollment. Between 2020 and 2021, overall, there was a 4.8% increase in enrollment.
“We’ve not seen this many students enrolled since the 2014-2015 school year,” states Todd Blahnik, Superintendent of Schools. “What’s unique about the growth, is that it is spread throughout our entire 16 county area. From the northern schools to Oshkosh, we have seen families continue to choose to send their children to our Catholic schools.”
Blahnik attributes the growth to several things. “First, we were able to offer in-person education the entire last year (2020-21), while many of our public-school counterparts remained virtual. Second, our staffs went above and beyond in supporting the students and families during this time. Finally, we added two new high schools offering instruction in the classical school tradition in the Green Bay and Kaukauna area that have been incredibly well received.” Blahnik sees the trend continuing as other schools within the diocese look at expansion.
