GREEN BAY, Wis. (Mar. 7, 2019) – The third annual "A Day of Healing" retreat for those affected by sexual abuse will be held Saturday, April 6, 2019, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Norbertine Center for Spirituality, located on the grounds of St. Norbert Abbey at 1016 N. Broadway, De Pere, WI 54115.

Facilitated by the Journey of Hope team, this retreat will provide a time to gather, pray, and talk about the healing process related to the effects of sexual abuse while focusing on ongoing recovery. All are invited, including survivors of sexual abuse, friends of survivors, and other caring persons. During the course of the day, participants will be given options to interact in small groups and for personal quiet time. Recognizing that people are at different points in the journey of healing, the retreat illustrates the impact of coming together and realizing you are not alone.

"I am humbled and honored to have the opportunity to share this 'Day of Healing' with survivors of sexual abuse and others that support us," said Barb Bayer, a survivor and Journey of Hope member. “We all walk a different path on our journeys as we continue to heal from the emotional, physical, and spiritual brokenness from sexual abuse. Personally, this 'Day of Healing' never fails to help me experience the strength, courage, and deep faith of those around me."

Journey of Hope provides a place for prayer, community, and discussion about the healing process. The group is composed of survivors of sexual abuse along with family members, friends, and other caring persons. In addition to "A Day of Healing," they host prayer services throughout the year for those affected by sexual abuse.

A $10 non-refundable registration fee is due by March 22, 2019. This includes a continental breakfast, lunch, and materials for the day. Overnight accommodations for Friday, April 5, are available at the Norbertine Center for Spirituality at St. Norbert Abbey for an additional fee; $40.00 single occupancy/per night or $50.00 couple/per night and includes a private room, linens, and towels.
